Pleased to meet you, future Run Fit Crew member!
Like many of you, I live with fond memories from childhood of racing friends at the park or in the streets (often barefoot as if that was going to make any of us truly faster). Every year in elementary school, I ran the Turkey Trot. Although I placed 3rd or 4th, I never brought home the bird. In middle school I loathed PE classes and running a mile felt like child abuse. In high school I tried out for the track team and although I wasn't fast enough to make waves in the track and field world, I still showed up and lost with grace.
Fast forward a bit, I found myself in the US Army where running two miles was a chore that felt almost like a crime against humanity. Ok-that was overly dramatic, but you get my point, right?
Nearly 15 years later, I not only run long distances, but I get up before the sun, on purpose, and log miles on a Tuesday because I want to. Get this: (come closer) I even pay hundreds of dollars every year to run races and lose. Well, I don't lose but I don't come in first. That's not the goal anyway.
Running has changed my life! The physical, mental and emotional benefits are astonishing. I started Run Fit Crew because I want to show people who think this level of physical fitness is no longer attainable that they too can find the joy in running. All they have to do it take the first steps.
Whether the goal is to run a 5K, 10K, half marathon or full marathon someday, it all starts with the first step. Our 5K training plans will get you ready for your first race in as little at 6 weeks. Joining this run club will get you there if you put in the work.
Training Expertise
I am a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Certified Run Coach. However, I successfully coached myself, a former nearly 300lbs mother of four, who could barely walk a mile, let alone run one. That alone is more impressive than any certification, right?
Your Success is My Goal
I am often told comments like, "I wish I could run but my knees are bad." Or "I don't run unless I'm being chased." Y'all know these are just excuses, right? If you really want to run and be fit, let me show you the way.
